Hakataramea Valley Wines is pioneering viticulture in the Valley for the first time. At present we have 9 hectares planted with traditional varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and are also trialing Arneis. Our first release of Pinot Gris and Riesling in 2006 was very enjoyable , 2007 was hampered by frosts but 2008 is looking very promising. We are currently building a winery in Kurow, Waitaki Valley and are in the process of expanding our vineyard there also. We are very excited about this new project and hope to be fully operational early in 2009.
